Heal What You Keep Hiding

Becoming is not loud.

It is slow.

It is sacred.

It is honest.

Many of us are navigating our way through becoming…

but we have not yet told ourselves the whole truth.

Becoming requires work.

The kind that asks you to sit with your thoughts.

To trace your patterns back to their origin.

To gently question what you were taught about love, worth, survival.

It asks you to uncover

the hidden agreements you made with pain.

The stories you swallowed.

The silence you mastered.

You cannot accept what you cannot change

until you lay it

on the table of your heart and mind

and call it by name.

Your future self

is waiting on your current self

to repair the cracks in the foundation.

Not to shame them.

Not to hide them.

But to mend them

so you can finally build

without fear of collapse.

What you seek from others:

patience, grace, reassurance, honesty,

require it of yourself first.

Becoming is not about perfection.

It is about truth.

And truth, beloved,

is where freedom begins.

Honor Time: A Call to Intentional Living

Time is one of the most precious gifts we have—and yet, it’s often the one we take for granted. We get caught up in the grind: working endlessly, chasing material things, and letting days slip by without truly connecting with the people who matter most.

What Really Matters

Life isn’t about possessions. It’s about presence. It’s about being intentional with our friends, our loved ones, and ourselves. The truth is, tomorrow isn’t promised. And when someone is gone, you can’t go back and fix what was broken. That’s why healing, forgiveness, and meaningful connection are so vital.

Boundaries vs. Bitterness

This isn’t about tolerating disrespect or putting yourself in harm’s way. Boundaries are sacred. But sometimes, the walls we build are made of ego, miscommunication, and pain we’ve held onto for too long. We remember how we felt, but not why. And that pain? It limits us. It steals joy from the moments we could be living fully.

Choose Healing

Take the time to heal. Let go of grudges that no longer serve you. Choose peace over pettiness. Choose love over pride. And choose a daily “diet” that feeds your soul—one free of negativity, pessimism, and drama. Nourish your mind, body, and spirit with things that uplift and inspire.

In the end, God isn’t counting your degrees or your designer labels. He’s looking at your heart. So live with intention. Love deeply. And honor the time you’ve been given.~micaiah

The Unseen Ripple Effect of Authenticity

You never know who you may be inspiring or encouraging to tap back into latent or new talents just by being you. Sometimes we forget that people may not always speak on how you inspire them, but yet they are, and it helps them to smile more or be their authentic selves.

Today, a former schoolmate expressed how my return to blogging inspired her. I was truly shocked because I was impressed with her recently shared writings and agreed with so many of her viewpoints. That’s the beauty of creativity and the arts; you can express yourself and inadvertently inspire others. It’s the same way with acts of kindness too. One small act can be the catalyst for other acts of kindness, compassion, and consideration.

When you share pieces of yourself for your own self-satisfaction rather than for applause, you often reach a broader and more sincere audience. You will often also position yourself to be poured back into by people who admire your transparency and find commonalities among your expressions and experiences. If only we lived in a world where more people honored the beauty of someone living in their authenticity and being free to be open, honest, and vulnerable without making themselves prey to someone’s judgment and condescension.

Write without constraints

Writing is so freeing, but you have to do it with the understanding that some won’t like or respect what you have to say. It’s a good thing I don’t do it for the applause but to free myself of the thoughts and ideas that burden, excite, and even incite me. So, if you’re considering writing or think no one will care what you have to say, do it anyway. You’d be surprised who you might inspire or who may fan your flames of inspiration even higher!~micaiah

The Unfinished Business of July 4th

As we approach July 4th, it’s crucial to acknowledge that this day resonates differently for many. For people of color, the celebration of American independence can be a poignant reminder of a time when the freedoms declared in 1776 were not extended to all. Our nation’s history is undeniably complex, and the ongoing journey toward true equality and freedom feels particularly precarious under the current political climate.

While the ideals of liberty and justice remain worthy aspirations, this day also serves as a vital opportunity to recognize the profound struggles and invaluable contributions of those historically excluded from the original promise of freedom. Especially now, as we witness so many having their civil liberties eroded in the name of a narrow and manipulated definition of democracy, this reflection becomes even more urgent.

Given the current state of the world—the threats to civil liberties, basic human rights, and fundamental human decency—we must confront the difficult question of whether America can truly still be called the “land of the free.” The establishment of concentration camps under the guise of “detention centers” in severe and inhumane conditions and the relentless push towards homogeneity challenge the very notion of a diverse and inclusive society. It increasingly appears that genuine liberty and justice are reserved for a privileged few, and freedom remains profoundly incomplete if it does not encompass the ability for all to live with dignity and respect.

Despite these sobering realities, we must not give up hope. Many of us will persevere, choosing to use this day as a time to forge connections with friends and family, to find moments of joy, and to create our own traditions and memories. This act of coming together, of finding light amidst the shadows, is in itself an act of resilience.

Let’s harness this day not just for celebration, but for deep reflection on our history, for a courageous embrace of our collective shortcomings, and, most importantly, for a renewed commitment to working tirelessly toward a future where freedom and equality are, without exception, truly for everyone. Our continued dedication to these ideals is what will ultimately ensure that humanity and human decency prevail.~micaiah
