In the Spirit of Maturity

In 2022 and beyond, what we’re not going to do is waste time explaining the things that should be apparent. Like being mature after a certain age, treating people how you want to be treated and common courtesy even in the midst of differing opinions.

If you are grown, let’s spend more time acting grown, than we do announcing it. Let’s perfect the art of minding our own business versus mindless gossip. I don’t know about the next person, but between tending to my child, work and elderly loved ones I could care less what the next person is doing. And since I waited so late in life to have a child, forget keeping up with the Jones’s I need to keep up with her. Let’s just say, that’s no small feat with these bad knees, lol.

Why can’t we, as grown adults, find real joy in the happiness and victories of others versus feeling jealous and insecure in our own short comings. People need to understand that timing is everything and what looks like an easy win, may have come on the tail end of hardship, sacrifice and struggles. And that just because someone else’s success manifested itself first, doesn’t mean yours isn’t still coming. Don’t block your blessings harboring negative feelings.

Being grown isn’t just an age range it’s a state of mind and being. It should be a time full of introspection and peace. Time to realize or finalize plans and dreams. We should be well beyond petty disagreements and the inability to communicate respectfully. We should be well versed in agreeing to disagree without falling out and playing the victim.

I refuse to waste time and energy on people that refuse to act their age. I’m not explaining things to people that are far beyond the age and have the mental capacity to understand. I will not carry the burden of other people’s immaturity and selfishness. If they love drama and chaos leave them in a cage or on the stage, because life is short and grown ups have better things to do with their time and energy, or at least they should.

I also fully understand that some people often grow old, but never grow up, but they need to take that Peter Pan mentality and stay far away from those of us that have relinquished our lives as caterpillars and are flying on the wings of our lives as butterflies. If you can’t fly with us, do us the favor and move out our way.

Let’s spend our time investing in ourselves and in those that invest in you. Live your best life and encourage those around you to do the same. Lifting up others is a sure fire way to elevate yourself. You won’t have to announce you’re grown if your actions speak for you. So, protect your peace, sage your life of negativity and float into your best years.

never can say good bye
even after a year it still seems foreign to try
I remember being awakened from my sleep
to cries that you were now resting in peace
for a second I lost touch with reality
Could this really be true
but I soon gained more proof
the world had truly lost you
it’s hard living life with no more talks
no more shared books read
or inside jokes
I just knew we’d grow to be old folks
You were my sister, my friend and a spiritual sharpener
when your soul left
time seemed to stand still
it felt surreal
I was bereft
left fumbling to rationalize within my mind,
to accept this loss as a truth
There are days I’m great
and there’s days when simply I’m not
I know life is for living so I keep pushing I dare not stop
There is so much more I needed to share
so much more wisdom and encouragement I needed to hear
You were a sister-friend so near and dear to my heart.
I carry your memories forever with me may they never depart.

Kissing frogs

Don’t allow yourself to self-sabotage future relationships. You deserve the very best that life and love has to offer. You just have to be willing to see the blessings in the lesson.

Sometimes we have to kiss a few frogs in order to fully appreciate when we find our “One”. The frog isn’t a punishment, it’s a teachable moment. Sometimes they teach us patience and sometimes they teach us exactly what we don’t want in a mate.

Either way use the experience as a catalyst for growth. Experience is the best teacher, but sometimes it takes a whole lot of trial and error to come up with the winning combination.

More Powerful than you Know

Sometimes it’s hard to inspire when you feel as if you’re floundering at life and your pockets are not filling fast enough.

But then again, those moments of uncertainty that turn out alright are what leads to inspiring moments and testimonies.

It’s easy to give up. To say, well it must not be my time since dreams aren’t aligning with finances.

Finances, or shall I say, the lack thereof, is a major stressor. Businesses and marriages have come to destruction over it.

But we can’t lose sight that sometimes riches aren’t monetary and sometimes blessings can’t be measured.

Peace of mind and joy of heart are priceless. Doing something that fulfills you is invaluable to your self-worth, and shouldn’t be quantified on the basis of a dollar.

That budget is meant to discipline you not confine or define your limits.

Sometimes you have to acknowledge that what you want is surpassing what you need.

We have to place things in perspective and understand that sometimes the only thing standing in your way of pursuing your dreams is being greedy for gain and forgetting to be thankful for more than enough.

Sometimes we have to be reminded that your dreams may be the life saving force someone else has been waiting for.

That book, that business, that apparel line may be the boost someone needs to be reminded that they too can realize their dreams.

That it’s never too late to pursue your purpose.

Don’t give up, you’re richer than you realize and more powerful than you know!

End to begin again

What happens when you are lovers and friends

When the loveship must come to an abrupt end

Sometimes you never get to expound on the relationship

due to extraneous life induced situationships

It’s so hard to remove a true love from your head and heart

When that’s where all the loving memories start

When you’ve been in each other lives so long there is a connection

and intertwining of families

Soul connections made when in each others hearts and arms we laid

But life brings about change and to the heart change isn’t always fair

And so away from one another we must now tear

Ourselves

in order to build upon foundations laid with others

and pray that one day we can love someone else

with the same soulful passion with which we loved one another.

Next lifetime

You ever had someone speak to your very soul,

they looked into your eyes and your very thoughts they’d know?

With just a mention of their name they send your heart a flutter,

and they make you feel inspired but  at the same time so nervous you stutter?

Someone who stimulates your mind,
taking intelligent and sexy to a whole different level and time,

but the sad part about it, it’s not the right time

For me to be yours and for you to be mine

and inherently you know
No matter how perfectly the stars seemed to align

you have to put off this soul connection
until the next lifetime.
