Can you see what I see?

I do not need color blind friends, because if you claim not to see color then, do you really see me?

Do you see the inherent differences in the way people of color are treated? How we are asked to forget and get over our trauma while others are allowed to embrace theirs.

I need people who see the differences and fight to change those things which are wrong and unjust. If you are not a person of color you may never understand exactly what we are up against and that’s ok. Just be empathetic towards our fight and not silently complicit.

No one would have to shout Black Lives Matter if All Lives truly Mattered because we would be included in that number. But clearly, we are not included and that’s why we continue to make noise!

The government has shown us repeatedly a closed mouth don’t get fed. If we want change we have to demand it, asking nicely since 1619 has gotten us nothing but traumatized.

Pushed to the edge

Today my Healthcare corporation encouraged us to participate in an 8 minute and 46 second moment of silence in honor of Mr. George Floyd and in solidarity with White Coats for Black Lives Matter (WCBL). WCBL is “an organization that strives to dismantle racism in medicine and promote the health, well-being, and self-determination of the African American community.”

During those 8 minutes and 46 seconds I couldn’t help but to think of all the things that must have flashed through Mr. Floyd’s mind, while seemingly coming to the stark realization that the police was literally killing him. I can’t even fathom what he must have been feeling and the helplessness of being rendered breathless.

I kept having that video of him being murdered, because that’s what it was, play over in a loop in my head. And of how tired I am of explaining to my 7 year old daughter that another person of color has lost their life at the hands of someone who sees them as less than, all while attempting to instill into her that she is enough.

It’s exhausting.

Racism in America, like a festering wound and abhorrent disease, has been left untreated since the nation was birthed. It’s a sickness that effects the young, old and all in between.
How can we tout this as the best nation on earth when animals get more respect and protection than people of color?

When will I not have to say extra prayers for all my male friends and family members that their lives are not taken during a simple traffic stop or interaction with the police.

Yes, we try to teach our youth how to act to stay alive, but until people stop placing symbolic bullseyes on their heads and back, hunting season continues in spite of being compliant.

All lives matter, but until Black Lives Matter there will be no peace because there won’t be any justice for us. Understand this country was founded on the backs of the people that they no longer deem matter, how hypocritical is that?

There are too many disparities in healthcare, education and the justice system for people to feel comfortable sticking their head in the sand and pretending to be unaware of what takes place around them. We know you see it, you show us with your silence that until it effects you directly you don’t care.

If you aren’t helping resolve the problems you may as well be throwing fire on the flames. You care if people mistreat their dog, yet act confounded that people would feel so strongly against the mistreatment of a whole collective group of people.
Surely, not a nation that state in God they trust! Do you not understand the same God you say you trust, created us.

When will enough, be enough for you? It’s past time for me.✊🏽🖤

Misery loves company

Don’t let others project their misery onto you.

People that can not control you physically will attempt to manipulate you emotionally and mentally. Happiness is an inside job, don’t be fooled by outside forces.

No one can control the actions of others, but you are always in control of your reaction and response to them.

People will try to bury you in chaos, don’t suffer in the dirt, grow from it and flourish.

Sometimes the best response is silence and the best revenge is success by way of inner peace and happiness.

Misery loves company, so don’t answer the door if it comes knocking!

Fool for Love

We’ve all been there and done that, played the fool that is. Left you wondering if you could have plead temporary insanity during that span of time.

Left you questioning yourself and your ability to pick a worthy mate. Nothing to beat yourself up for, every lesson is a blessing, even the ones you perceive as failed.

Past relationships teach us as much about ourselves as it does other people, well if we are honest with introspection it does. You have to honestly look inside to discover why you were attracted to people in your past.

Oftentimes, if we do not work through traumas or voids in our childhoods we wind up attracting those same type of people in our adolescence and adulthood. It is said you attract what you reflect. So if you want to attract better, reflect better. And yes, it can be that simple.

When you truly and thoroughly love yourself you will refuse to be in a relationship that does not mirror your self love and who does not reciprocate your effort.

You will learn to grow through what you go through and become better because of it. Heartbreak can be rough, but allow it to make you better not bitter.

Sometimes we have to lose in order to have room to gain. Keep pushing!

More Powerful than you Know

Sometimes it’s hard to inspire when you feel as if you’re floundering at life and your pockets are not filling fast enough.

But then again, those moments of uncertainty that turn out alright are what leads to inspiring moments and testimonies.

It’s easy to give up. To say, well it must not be my time since dreams aren’t aligning with finances.

Finances, or shall I say, the lack thereof, is a major stressor. Businesses and marriages have come to destruction over it.

But we can’t lose sight that sometimes riches aren’t monetary and sometimes blessings can’t be measured.

Peace of mind and joy of heart are priceless. Doing something that fulfills you is invaluable to your self-worth, and shouldn’t be quantified on the basis of a dollar.

That budget is meant to discipline you not confine or define your limits.

Sometimes you have to acknowledge that what you want is surpassing what you need.

We have to place things in perspective and understand that sometimes the only thing standing in your way of pursuing your dreams is being greedy for gain and forgetting to be thankful for more than enough.

Sometimes we have to be reminded that your dreams may be the life saving force someone else has been waiting for.

That book, that business, that apparel line may be the boost someone needs to be reminded that they too can realize their dreams.

That it’s never too late to pursue your purpose.

Don’t give up, you’re richer than you realize and more powerful than you know!

The Race is not Given to the Swift

In today’s age of millennials and entrepreneurship, those of us over 40 and just coming into our own may feel a little bereft. These young people sure do seem to have themselves together and have an outlook on getting ahead and working for themselves while creating multiple streams of income.

It may appear that they have reached their summit before you did and that has you feeling a bit slighted. Don’t be. The environment is ever shifting focus, for those of us in our 40’s and above the focus was always on obtaining a trade or college education, the thought of working for oneself was just not something most of our parents heard of or were comfortable promoting. Instead, most were encouraged to find a job/career and stay there forever.

As times changed so did perspective and people are beginning to see that sometimes college education can give you an advantage over the next candidate and sometimes a degree can just get you in debt. Therefore, people are pushing the idea of business ownership and branding, versus working for someone else, supporting and financing of one’s own dreams instead of just building others.

It takes courage to break out of a mold and to try something new and different. So it is worthy of applause for those individuals that after years of working a job as instructed by dear old mom and dad, have decided to revisit their dreams, passion and or purpose and pursue them. Being older, hopefully, means wiser as well, and more in tune to what truly drives our happiness and what we need in order to live fulfilled lives.

I think these “well-seasoned” entrepreneurs have a lot of knowledge as it pertains to life skills that are beneficial when promoting one’s business and brand. People are teaching themselves and other new tricks, dispelling that “old dog myth”.  It is never too late to reinvent oneself.  All you need is the drive, determination, and motivation to change your mindset and ultimately your life.

Don’t allow anyone or any circumstance to place you in a box. Remember and repeat to yourself daily, if necessary, that the only thing standing in your way is you. Empowerment starts with self. Believe in your own self-worth and envision yourself successful. No matter the age we are all humans attempting to live out our best life. Collaborate and learn from one another, old and young working together collectively ideas and experience abound.

There is a saying that states, the race is not given to the swift, but to those that endure to the end. So keep pushing and don’t quit. I believe with you!

Boundless Visions: Unleashing the limitations in your mind

The science of mind is our ability to change our lives with the changing of our mindset. Words and thoughts hold power and we have the power to self-sabotage our happiness when we put unhealthy vibrations in the universe.

Sometimes we expect failure, although we put on the facade of believing in forever.

When we think failure, we do things without full effort and without full effort relationships become burdensome and disintegrate.  When we want success, we must think successfully. Affirm that what you want is what you will have. Claim it as truth and being present already.

Energy is movement so when you focus your thoughts on positive things the universe works to place those things in motion for your good. But you must work towards them. Words without actions are dead.

Make your goals visible, this is one reason why vision boards are so powerful. They make goals real, tangible and obtainable. A visual reminder of where you need to focus your time and energy. They can be revised, as we reach new levels in self- awareness our goals and aspirations may change and that is an awesome and freeing thing.

The only limits in your life are the ones you set.

So, let your limits be boundless.

Speak and claim positivity and abundance in and on your life; invest in and sponsor your dreams.

Voice your victories and speak prosperity into your life.

You have the power to live your best life.

No more fear, no more doubts, no more excuses.

Just do it!

Reset your Mindset

The mind is a powerful tool and can also said it’s a powerful trap. It can have you believing in things that are just not true. For example generational curses, are not curses, rather it’s the failure of people within a family to step outside of a particular mindset and obtain a different result.
The reality of it is that when someone chooses to have a different mindset or take a different perspective then you get different results. For example, some families feel poverty is a generational curse. And it can be if all you see for yourself is what has been and not what can be. We can’t change the circumstances we are born into, we can’t change our DNA, but your genes do not determine your future in regard to your capacity to achieve greatness. Your mind state does.

Some people like to be victims of circumstance because when you are a victim, most of the time you are deemed powerless and people sympathize with your plight. Being a victim relieves some people of the responsibility they have to ensure they take the actions to be the change they want to see in their lives. Once you become an adult if you choose not to be great it’s no longer the fault of the missing father or the drug addicted mother, no, that blame lies with and on you. Everyone alive has the same 24 hours in a day, the difference is what you do with it. Will you use your hurdles as stumbling blocks or building blocks?

When we encounter adversity do, we automatically feel overwhelmed and defeated or do we look at how going through this trial will enable us to grow and strengthen our resolve and outlook? There is more than one route to get to any destination, but sometimes you can’t travel the easiest route. No, sometimes you have to be willing to crawl on your belly through the brush and get tangled in a few weeds and even push through the mud, muck and mire in order to reach that end result or desired destination. It doesn’t matter what dirt you had to go through in order to be victorious in the end.

Keep your eye focused on your goal and cut off people that prohibit you from reaching it by weighing you down. Not everyone else will understand or support your need to be and live differently. People will say you think you’re better, and you know what you just might be, not in an arrogant way, but in a way that it’s ok to want the best for yourself and those you love. No one should ever make you feel bad for not settling for being mediocre. When your FATHER is the Creator of all things who is man to tell you to limit yourself or your dreams.

Keep pushing and cast aside those mental habits that chain you to toxic, stagnating ideals and dead-end life styles.

Break those mental chains that bind and confine you. Free your mind and improve your life!
